Whether you are having a single wisdom tooth removed or you have four impacted wisdom teeth that need to go, we understand that any kind of oral surgery can be anxiety-inducing. Luckily, our Spring Lake dental team is here to help your treatment be as easy, streamlined, and stress-free as possible.
We want to provide you with the information you need to feel confident about your upcoming wisdom teeth removal. Should you have additional questions at any point, feel free to contact our friendly team!
For Your Wisdom Teeth Removal Appointment
When you are preparing to leave for our office in the morning, we recommend wearing very comfortable, loose-fitting clothes, like sweatpants and a T-shirt. If you wear corrective lenses, wear your glasses instead of contacts. Makeup and jewelry should also be left at home.
Ensure that the friend or family member who is driving you home post-treatment is ready and available to take you to your appointment. They will wait in our lobby on the day of your surgery.
Stock Up on Soft Foods
We strongly recommend that our patients have several soft meals and snacks on hand that they can easily grab post-treatment. Shopping and preparing meals may feel much more tiring after your procedure, so it’s a good idea to at least have a few simple foods that you can reach for during your recovery.
Foods like yogurt, applesauce, avocados, bananas, blueberries, blended soups, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, smoothies, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese are great options for most patients. Just be sure that you don’t drink anything through a straw during your recovery!
Choose Restful Activities
After your wisdom teeth removal, delay physically-taxing activities like running errands and going to the gym. Resting as much as possible after oral surgery is a crucial part of the recovery process, as too much activity too soon can cause complications and extend your recovery time.
We recommend picking out some movies to watch and books to read while you rest at home with your head propped up on a pillow. Sleep with an extra pillow at night too.
